About the Program
Excerpts from Sleeping Beauty
Choreography: Traditional | Music: Pyotr Tchaikovsky
This true classic delivers a sparkling show of technical precision framed in a colorful array of stunning costumes. Featuring fairy solos & the full company flowing through Garland Valse with a little storytelling from red riding Hood and the wolf! All this to the rich and glorious score of Peter I Tchaikovsky.

Flight
Choreography: Natalia Botha | Music: J.S. Bach
A tender and poignant definition of the common phrase
“how quickly time flies”…

Danzon
Choreography: Natalia Botha | Music: Arturo Márquez
Begins at a simmer, dancers emerge alone and are drawn together into a passionate dance. As the musical rhythm becomes their heartbeat, they capture the evening of desire.

Simian Line
Choreography: Charles Hagan | Music: Genesis
This piece is choreographed in the style of the father of American jazz dance, Jack Cole. That style was learned and passed down by Broadway dancer, the late, great Buzz Miller. Cole’s movement is very earthy, raw and powerful. Simian Line is a work compiled of steps and exercises learned in classes throughout many, many summers of study with Buzz & reflects the image of, as he often used to say, “ it’s baby gorilla time”!

Giggling Rapids
Choreography: Alvin Ailey | Music: Sir Duke Ellington
A lighteningly sharp Pas de Deux, blending the brilliant jazz music of Duke Ellington with Alvin Ailey’s stylistic freedom of movement.

Czerny
Choreography: Natalia Botha and Charles Hagan | Music: Carl Czerny
It’s time to have fun as the choreography takes a lighthearted romp through Carl Czerny musical studies. It’s meticulous and exact… until it’s not.
